NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course, Phase 2
NOTE: NRA is now offering this class in two parts. The first part or Phase I is an online class that must be taken BEFORE taking Phase 2. You may enroll in Phase 1 and then Phase 2 at the NRA Instructors web site after you complete Phase 1.
Goal:
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
Description
Phase 2 is approximately 6-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.
Range Course
This class includes approximately 2-3 hours range time. You should have your handgun and approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. The instructor will have additional handguns and ammunition that you may fire so you can gain experience with different type handguns.
